”Кровець” [krovets’] – is an old Ukrainian word meaning: hiding place, hidden place, safe storage facility. The root of this word is “кров” - blood. The related verb is “укривати”- to cover/hide. The ending “-ець” represents the affectionate diminutive form, which makes the word ”кровець” sound as something very close and dear to one's heart.
